In his book, Cool Infographics: Effective Communication With Data Visualization and Design, Randy Krum provides a helpful definition as he writes, “Today, the use of the word infographics has evolved to include a new definition that means a larger graphic design that combines data visualizations, illustrations, text and images together into a format that tells a story” (6). In other words, an infographic is a digital medium that has the ability to merge research data with a narrative which audiences can feel connected with.
